Video: Hawks 2007 Family Day – Jumper Presentation

We are days away from the Mighty Hawks playing there first game in the 2007 season and I finally have what many of you think is the most important video from the Hawks family day, the Players Jumper Presentation. Again, I am not a professional and in fact in this video I have my son on my shoulders (so he could see) and so between his leg crapping and my arm getting tired from holding the camera up for about a half hour, not to mention people in front of me, the video is a bit jumpy but I think you will get to see your favourite players.

The second video in my series from the 2007 Hawthorn Family day is our President, Jeff Kennett. Jeff is a great speaker and this speech is no difference.

Hawks 2007 Family Day – Brad Sewell interview

The 2007 Family day was a big day with estimated 5000 people in attendence. I was very impressed with the entertainment put on during the day. One of the highlights was an interview with Brad Sewell conducted by Shane Crawford. Here is a video of it. Please excuse the shakeyness, I am not the greatest camera operator.

Interview with Brad Swell

Here is an interview with Brad Swell off of Sen from the 5th March. Talking about the fact that he was statistically the most efficent disposer in the AFL in 2006.

Two Hawks in Indigenous All-Stars team

The following report was on the the Hawks Official site and noted that two of our stars will play the Bombers in the bi-annual game where the best of the Indigenous players from around the league play an AFL teams a few weeks before the start of the preseason competition:

Chance Bateman and Lance Franklin have been selected to play in the Indigenous All-Stars Team, which will take on Essendon Football Club in Darwin next month. The two Hawks are part of a 30-man squad selected by a panel that includes Essendon legend Michael Long and former Footscray and Brisbane champion Michael McLean who will also coach the team.

An interesting omission in my opinion is Mark Williams. My understanding is that he wasn’t available for selection. To my knowledge he doesn’t have any injury but I believe that he became a father recently (but could be wrong) and maybe he wants to send the time at home with his family.

Best of luck for the boys and hopefully the All-Stars kick the bombers ass.

Support the Club – Adopt a Ball

Adopt a Hawks footy Was having a look through the Hawks Members only email for this week and found this article:

Help the players improve their football skills by Adopting A Ball. The Hawks give the balls a good beating in 4-6 weeks. The players then need a new footy to keep perfecting their skills. You can help the Mighty Hawks keep the supply of balls that they require. PLUS you will receive your pre-kicked footy with the signature of your favourite player – Strictly Limited – NOW AVAILABLE

So if you have some spare money and would love to be kicking around the same ball as your Hawks heros or if you want to put up on the bar, this could be just the thing that you are after.

Don’t forget to get your membership and support the club, its going to be a great year.

Max Bailey out for 2007

News spread today that Max Bailey, Second year ruckman for the Hawks who was looking to be an important part of the young Hawks side twisted his knee in training this morning when he had a collision with another player.

Patrick and Big Max BailyHe had a scan this after noon and it showed the worst. Max has ruptured his right the ACL in his right knee and will have surgery some time next week.

Max would have been competing with Simon Taylor for the Backup Ruck job but that’s going to have to wait a year as he will be out the entire 2007 season. Max was given the honor of wearing number 1 but maybe this is another case of the curse of the number 36 at Hawthorn.

We wish Max all the best in his recovery and hope for him to come back bigger and better in 2007. I know my son will be disappointed as he was taking on Big Max Bailey as his favorite player after Spider was traded away.

Ladson condition update from Training on the 5th Jan

hfc056As mentioned in my post on the Hawks training for the 5 Jan, Rick Ladson had an injury concern out of the session. It was reported by people at training that it appeared to be an ankle problem.

I have since been informed from the club that didn’t roll his ankle but in fact had someone stand on his foot and in fact “He resumed the session”.  hfc057Will be interesting to see if he trains at the next section. Ladson had a terrible run of injures at the start of his career but in the last few years is really starting to show the promise the club saw in him when they took him at 18 in the 2001 superdraft.

Good luck to Lado, as well as the rest of the boys for that matter. I have insert a group of photos of the injury that HFC082 (from The Mighty Hawks Forum). It is easy to see why they thought it was a ankle injury with Lado and the Medical stuff looking at the ankle.
