After life (i.e. family committments) had prevented me from getting to training, I was able to get down for 30 odd minutes of training this morning. My son (Patrick) and I were down at Waverly for a training kickoff about 9:30am, with players coming down in two waves (including Hodge sneaking down late (see photo below)). One of the nice sights to see and hear is Max Bailey taking a very active role in the rehab group (okay, I mean I would rather him not in the rehab group but you know what I mean)! Anyway, I am sure your not here for my report, there are better around, on with the photos!
Training 25/11/2009 – More Running
Second post form the 25th November 2009. Mostly running although there is one of Jordan Lewis doing kicking practice. Not sure the reason for this as its the second time that while the rest of the group ran, he was doing kicking practice. Amoungst the photos is one of Wade Skipper, formerly of the Bulldogs, who is hoping to be picked up in todays draft. From the phantom drafts that have come out, it appears he might be waiting for the Rookie draft to be picked up as a Mature Aged Rookie.

Training 25/11/2009 – Main Session
Another open session this morning. I got there after 10:30am and the team was involved in a match simulation. I was asked by the coaching staff not to video it, so no video this week. But a couple of photo posts (and perhaps a music video style video of the photos). Hope you enjoy. The man that seems to be attracting a lot of interest and excitement at the moment is young backman, Ryan Schoenmakers

(NOTE: Hi to those coming from HHQ forum. I am still locked out of it. If you wanted to suggest they let user mollyfud back in, would be very helpful. TIA)
Open training. Was moved to 8am due to the heat and I was able to make it down twice. Got some great Videos to come later. But here are some photos (again more to come later):

Max Bailey out for 2007
News spread today that Max Bailey, Second year ruckman for the Hawks who was looking to be an important part of the young Hawks side twisted his knee in training this morning when he had a collision with another player.
He had a scan this after noon and it showed the worst. Max has ruptured his right the ACL in his right knee and will have surgery some time next week.
Max would have been competing with Simon Taylor for the Backup Ruck job but that’s going to have to wait a year as he will be out the entire 2007 season. Max was given the honor of wearing number 1 but maybe this is another case of the curse of the number 36 at Hawthorn.
We wish Max all the best in his recovery and hope for him to come back bigger and better in 2007. I know my son will be disappointed as he was taking on Big Max Bailey as his favorite player after Spider was traded away.

Ladson condition update from Training on the 5th Jan
As mentioned in my post on the Hawks training for the 5 Jan, Rick Ladson had an injury concern out of the session. It was reported by people at training that it appeared to be an ankle problem.
I have since been informed from the club that didn’t roll his ankle but in fact had someone stand on his foot and in fact “He resumed the session”.
Will be interesting to see if he trains at the next section. Ladson had a terrible run of injures at the start of his career but in the last few years is really starting to show the promise the club saw in him when they took him at 18 in the 2001 superdraft.
Good luck to Lado, as well as the rest of the boys for that matter. I have insert a group of photos of the injury that HFC082 (from The Mighty Hawks Forum). It is easy to see why they thought it was a ankle injury with Lado and the Medical stuff looking at the ankle.

PS. Thanks to the club for a swift response to the request for information. Don’t forget to get your membership as it is going to be an exciting year for the club with lot of young players maturing together as well as the older greats like Crawf and Vanders.
