An unofficial Hawthorn Hawks AFL site about the Mighty Hawks

Bit late getting this post out but went down to Waverly on Friday for a training session. One of the features of the session was a number of players in there original home club outfits. A good session by all. I spent a lot of it watching the rucks doing their thing. Check the photos out for more comments.
Left to right: Bateman (York), Birchall (Devonport), Suckling (Wagga Tigers), Rioli (St Marys), Burgoyne (Mallee Park) and Osbourne (Labrador)

Wander down to training this morning and the boys looked good. I took some photos mainly of skill work rather then of structure work as I could understand the club being a little touchy about that. Everyone looked good. I think most were on the field in one form or another. Comments in the photos below. By the way, if I have a name wrong, please let me know in the comments below. ENJOY! GO HAWKS
David Hale photo. With the new Ruckman that is going to make Hawks debut on weekend have a few photos
Clarko looking on at training. I have been really impressed in what I have seen from Clarko lately. Gut feel is has been more involved or maybe I have just noticed it more

First training back after the Tassie community camp and main Intraclub match, and the boys were out in force. Not the most exciting session but here are some of the photos of the boys.
Boys had training yesterday. A very hard session. During the time I was there, I think there was a heavy price being put on endurance type work.
So we are into preseason for 2011 season and after some major work to the playing surface that saw the whole turf relayed, the boys were back training at the famous oval. Most of the players out there and from all reports, quite a long session that included ball work and a simulated match.
By the time I got there, the match was just ending but I was able to get some photos of the boys running. Any help with point out the new players greatly appreciated.

I am writing this report of training last week after the bad news about Simon Taylor and Brad Sewell‘s injuries from the weekends game. But during the week there was excitement that the man, I like to call “The Factor”, Clinton Young rejoined the main group for parts of training. There is a still a long way to go for Young to return to the team, but it at least is positive news.
So the injury to Taylor (4 months) will mean its almost certain that Wade Skipper will be upgraded and it will probably mean that KT (Jarrod Kayler-Thomson) will also get upgraded along with Garry Moss. To my calculation there could be one more spot and that might be a battle between Carl Peterson and Luke “Punky” Breust. (a few more photos available here).
The man some Hawks think could be in for a tilt at the Brownlow if all goes well for the Hawks was on 3AW Sports Today the Wednesday 10th Feb 2010. Discussed the Hawks better fitness base, some of the new players and other matters!
Enjoy
Got down to training this morning. Really enjoyed seeing the drills this morning. A few boys stepped it up and others in the rehab group. Unfortunately won’t be at Open training Friday before they go to Tassie for the NAB Cup opener against Richmond (if anyone does and wants to share commentary/photos, let me know, would love to put them up).
Enjoy the photos below! Who looks good. Don’t hesitate to comment below (have made it easier but will moderate to stop spam).
